Why we built My Band
It started the way most side projects do, out of frustration. We were running a 18-piece big band and spending more time on admin than actually making music. Constantly chasing people for availability. Sound familiar?
We were running a big band with a shared Google Sheet for availability, a WhatsApp group that nobody read properly, setlists scribbled on paper, and an app aimed at sports teams. Our dep book lived in one person’s head. It worked, sort of, until it didn’t.
We looked at what was out there. Generic project tools that didn’t understand bands. Music apps that only did one thing. Nothing that covered it all without costing a fortune or needing an IT degree.
So we built what we wished existed. A single platform that handles events, availability, setlists, lineups, member management, and much more – designed specifically for how bands actually work.
